Uniform Support Programme and Road to Paris Extended to Paralympic Games

More visibility and support for Paralympic Athletes at Paris 2024

Ittigen/Bern, SWITZERLAND 20 August 2024 – 63 athletes will line out in the latest state-of-the-art sports gear and equipment at the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris thanks to product donations from seven global sports brands.

Dedicated to fostering Paralympic solidarity, the Uniform Support Programme

supports National Paralympic Committees that require assistance in procuring competition-compliant uniforms, ensuring athletes are equipped with Paralympic-standard uniforms that proudly bear their NPC name and emblem.

Each uniform is tailored to the athlete, reflecting the commitment to excellence and equality that the Paralympic Games stand for.

WFSGI members Adidas, ASICS, Arena SpA, Nike, PUMA, Speedo and Under Armour have all committed to ensuring that no athlete is left behind through their product support.

WFSGI CEO Emma Zwiebler is proud to include Paralympic athletes in this programme for Paris. She explains, “Wearing the best apparel and footwear on competition day is crucial to being mentally and physically prepared to compete. Every athlete deserves to take part in possibly the biggest event of their careers without having to worry about their uniform and how it may affect their performance. Thank you to all 7 of our member brands for their participation in the Uniform Support Programme at the Paralympic Games.”

The uniform distribution starts at the Paralympic Village on August 21st and runs through August 29th.

Road to Paris 2024 Pilot Project

Paris 2024 is also a first for increased paralympic athlete visibility thanks to the WFSGI Road to Paris Pilot Project. Under the project, eligible WFSGI members will have the opportunity to celebrate the journey of their sponsored athletes on the Road to Paris and their achievements during the Paralympic Games.

17 member brands have the opportunity to use images of their sponsored athletes and NPC teams through social media campaigns related to their qualification for and/or participation in the Paralympic Games.

These sporting goods brands will be able to tell inspiring stories of their sponsored athletes and NPC teams via digital platforms authentically, and in new and innovative ways that will resonate with younger generations.

By leveraging the powerful communication platforms and extensive reach of the WFSGI member companies the “Road to Paris” pilot project seeks to engage with fans globally, with a particular focus on younger audiences. The goal is to generate excitement about the athletes and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, ensuring their inspirational stories resonate beyond the digital Olympic and Paralympic community.

The agreement underlines the IPC’s and WFSGI’s efforts to support athletes’ careers and well-being, both on and off the field of play, and to promote sport in society. It also reflects the WFSGI’s ongoing commitment to influencing activity from playground to podium, and its collective power to deliver a healthier, more active planet for all.
